Cornell University's Statler Hotel is looking to hire experienced servers for a temporary assignment in our Regent Lounge Lobby Bar. The Regent Lounge is located inside the Statler Hotel just off the main lobby and in the center of all the goings on at the hotel. It's the place where campus friends come together for happy hour, the gathering place for Cornell sports enthusiasts to meet up before or after events, and offers the best bites, beers and well-crafted cocktails on campus. Earn an hourly rate plus tips!

This is a temporary assignment with opportunity to apply for a regular role when available.

These roles pay $10.00 - $12.82/hour plus tips. Hourly rate determined by employment status and experience.

Your role as a Temporary Regent Lounge Server:

Servers should have previous customer service experience and be comfortable talking to guests as well as their fellow team members. Servers should be able to manage multiple tables at a time and ensure guests' needs are being met. Servers should be comfortable working in a high-volume environment, with the ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive demeanor. Servers should have a basic understanding of food and beverage items, including a wide variety of alcoholic offerings. Basic knowledge of beer, wine, spirits and cocktails is required. In addition, servers must understand and be comfortable with handling different payment methods and as well as cash and credit card transactions. These duties must be performed following our service standards and maintained throughout a shift.

Server Duties include:

  • Take food and beverage orders from guests dining in the lounge (paying attention to special requests, dietary restrictions, allergens, and responsible serving of alcohol)
  • Manage multiple tables at one time and maintain our service standards.
  • Ensure that we get payment for each table and understand the different payment methods that are accepted and how each works
  • Perform all other duties needed to assist the restaurant (polish silverware, run food, fold napkins, restock stations, reset tables, etc.)
  • Train new staff as assigned by management

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior serving experience strongly preferred
  • Alcoholic beverage knowledge strongly preferred
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment required
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently required
