APPLY The Statler Hotel at Cornell University is delighted to announce a temporary opportunity for an opening shift Host to join our Taverna Banfi Restaurant Team. With a passion for food and fine wine and old-world charm inspired by the Castello Banfi Wine Estate in Montalcino, Italy, Taverna Banfi is the signature restaurant of The Statler Hotel. Host Responsibilities As a member of the Statler Hotel's Food & Beverage Team, the primary responsibility is to provide superior service to our Taverna Banfi Restaurant guests. Greet and seat guests as they enter the restaurant. Take and confirm reservations, pre-assign tables, ensure the floor configuration matches the reservation. Assign server sections and rotate seating to ensure service quality. Answer the phone using established phone etiquette. Know how to place guests on hold, transfer guests correctly, and check messages. Be able to take to-go orders and room service orders over the phone and input the order into the point of sale system as necessary. Ensure menus for correct service period are stocked and clean. Know the parking policy of the hotel and communicate any issues to the bell stand. Be able to direct guests to all functions in the hotel using the daily events sheet. Facility Management Monitor the cleanliness, maintenance and sanitation of the restaurant and ensure any issues are communicated as needed. Ensure the room service trays have been collected throughout the shift. Manage the temperature and ambiance in the dining room. Properly report equipment maintenance needs. Menu Management Inventory all menus for the restaurant to ensure that they are accurate, clean, and organized. Communicate needs for reprinting to par levels to graphics department and management. Other Duties Perform other duties, including: participate in hotel management meetings, serve on hotel committees, complete projects as assigned.
