Position Summary

The Program Assistant provides essential administrative and logistical support to Youth & Education program, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Indigenous culture through education. This role involves a strong commitment to cultural sensitivity and a dedication to supporting the organization's mission.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist in program planning and implementation, including event coordination and logistics.
  • Support program staff in data collection, entry, and analysis.
  • Prepare and distribute program materials, such as handouts, presentations, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records and files.
  • Assist with grant-related tasks, including research and report preparation.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of positive relationships with Indigenous communities and partners.
  • Participate in cultural activities and events to deepen understanding of Indigenous cultures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Tasks).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in and respect for Indigenous cultures.
  • Position will be exposed to multiple allergens including cedar and wool (sheep and mountain goat).
  • Must be willing to travel to local and regional events via plane, car, ferry, etc. as needed
  • Needs a valid AK driver's license

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a nonprofit or community-based organization.
  • Experience with database management systems.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural protocols and practices.
  • Knowledge of Lingit preferred.

The pay rate for this position is $23.08 Per Hour + DOE
