Job Summary: The manufacturing engineering group will own and assist with a smooth product transition from design engineering into Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) and from LRIP to Contract Manufacturers (CM). Your primary roles will include; receiving complete and accurate product data packages from the design engineering team, delivering complete, accurate, and validated product data packages to CM locations, and everything else in between!
Provide supervision and direction to subordinates engaged in the process to include driving continuous improvement, manufacturing, test, and quality engineering assignments related to the development, and transition to production. Leads a cross-functional team and functions as a technical advisor regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Establishes and maintains plans, objectives, policies, and procedures for a manufacturing engineering unit. This position typically works under limited supervision. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Job Details:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive quality products and documentation from our design engineering team. Ensure that all work products provided are validated and ready to share with contract manufacturers.
  • Own product handoff from low-rate initial production (LRIP) to contract manufacturers (CM).
  • Directly support CMtest and build related questions, elevate and track through to design engineering as needed.
  • Coordinates activities of process enforcement and capture, manufacturing readiness, test, and quality engineering staff. Establishes work goals and allocates resources. Motivates, delegates, coaches, and trains subordinates.
  • Mentor and coach employees in the definition, estimation, and performance of tasks and generation of work products; conduct performance evaluations and recommend salary adjustments; make decisions concerning employee hiring, discipline, recognition, and termination.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, design engineering, and quality assurance to ensure seamless production operations, procedure capture, and policy enforcement.
  • Supervises and supports process and manufacturing engineering efforts including; developing and implementing effective manufacturing plans, establishing policies and procedures relative to tooling, manufacturing techniques, and processes, including overall manufacturing concepts, methods, and factory/facility arrangement and layout.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities relative to in-house capabilities in support of effective make vs. buy analyses and impact CM go/no-go decisions.
  • Monitors the schedule, technical performance, throughput, and yield of products supported.
  • Acts as a technical advisor to staff regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Oversees daily operations to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems.
  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Enforces adherence to company, manufacturing, and engineering policies, processes, and procedures governing work assignments. Modifies policies as needed.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track departmental performance and implement necessary actions to meet targets.
  • Keeps informed of advances in technology. Research state-of-the-art methods, processes, and equipment to support manufacturing needs. Investigate emerging technologies for applications to current or potential future manufacturing, process, and assembly techniques.
  • This is an on-site position, 9/80 schedule.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree in engineering or science discipline, and/or the combined equivalent of education and experience, plus eight years of related experience. Three years of supervisory or lead experience is preferred. Must be a US citizen, eligible for DoD security clearance. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; interface with customers, and suppliers, and deal with employees and managers at all levels in manufacturing, engineering, and other departments. Ability to interpret engineering and manufacturing requirements. Must be able to solve complex and difficult manufacturing and engineering problems. Mental ability to perform technical problem-solving and analytical tasks in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interface with employees, management, and customers.

Cubic Pay Range:

$95,000 - $143,281 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
