Warehouse Supervisor

Chandler Arizona

Scope of the job:

This position will work as a supervisor in support of our fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing operations. The position will be located in Chandler, Az and will report to the Materials Manager.

Mission/Purpose of the Job:

  • Oversees the planning and implementation activities related to stock levels, inventory accuracy, procurement, and control functions of the Arizona Warehouse as managing a team of warehouse personnel handling receipts of customer pumps, inventory (pumps & spares), and shipping repair pumps to customers.
  • It is necessary to keep accurate inventory, process efficient material flow, set priorities and follow through, implement best practice, and focus on meeting our customers' needs.
  • To support activities related to stock levels, inventory accuracy, procurement, and following process controls for Service Operations along with managing receipts of customer pumps, inventory, and shipping repair pumps to customers.
  • To support receiving and shipping activities are processed within 24 hrs to maximize customer service levels at the lowest supply chain costs and to support Hub turnaround times.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the warehouse personnel for the data entry function to ensure accurate and timely entry of material transaction and investigates or assists with keying for non-standard entries
  • Oversees the receiving and shipping functions to ensure receipts of pumps and shipment of finish products are cleared and processed to achieve desired turn times.
  • To support data integrity activities such as store locations, Cycle Counts, audit of STC Dead Cores & Customer Chargeable Returns. To ensure non-conforming pumps and commercial returns are being processed correctly without delay. To support open shipping issues to ensure these are rectified in a timely manner to minimize the impact on turnaround times. Maintain shelf-life adherence for applicable products.
  • Receives products from customers, vendors and or other Edwards's operations. Verifies delivery and stocks according to stores control procedure.
  • Performs all stock order processing and pump returns necessary to account for inventory accuracy and transparency by completing the required SAP transactions on a daily basis.
  • Performs or delegates all picking of stock to satisfy customer demand daily.
  • Coordinates delivery of product to desired customers within contracted or required time scales. Coordinates all other shipments with various freight companies.
  • Provides direction and support for physical flow, layout, and storage of components, customer equipment, deadcore, shipping, and receiving. Ensures that space is maximized and good housekeeping practices are maintained.
  • To escalate any commercial, operational, data, technical or safety problems that require management attention to ensure that the issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner, and to follow-up with the customer if appropriate to ensure their satisfaction with responses.
  • Supports the material management function in conjunction with agreed material/logistics management policies, procedures, and inventory objectives.
  • Supports Traffic Manager to rectify any customs clearance issues to avoid penalties and delays in product transfers.
  • Recognize when needed and coordinate with Management the prioritization of any additional SAP training and resource requirements.
  • Prepares and includes customer activity and tracks performances of supply, delivery, stocking levels etc. Distributes monthly or as required.
  • Develop training aids and execute training to Service Groups on new/existing processes
  • Follows the company procedure for accident and incident investigations and reporting. Recommends and implements corrective action. Completes and submits all required reports within 24 hours of incident.
  • Operates as trained and necessary all Stores material handling equipment, computers, trucks and forklift and misc. hand tools.
  • Reviews operating and housekeeping practices and ensures all personnel are adequately trained in always working to the latest SHE methods. Makes sure office area and warehouse site follows safety rules and regulations. Becomes familiar with and practices all safety procedures and seeks clarification or additional information when required. Strictly adheres to requirements for PPE and all safety rules. Maintains Forklift Certification and Safety guideline adherence.
  • Responsible for compliance with all relevant: i.e. OSHA standards, EPA regulations, etc.
  • Responsible for processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Processes all freight bill and forwards to Edwards 3rd Party Freight Invoice Contractor for payment.
  • HR contact for warehouse facility and responsible for distributing pertinent information to employee.
  • Responsible for the maintenance upkeep of all office equipment and facility to include the upkeep of building security system and employee security/entry badge system, phone, and network systems.
  • Communicates and coordinates all building maintenance tasks involving building Property Management team.
  • Coordinate departmental participation in the site Quality Program, taking a leading role in planning implementing, and monitoring the various projects while preparing and maintaining records in accordance with regulations and company procedures
  • Appraise employee's performance in accordance with established company policies
  • Attention to detail and driven to success of the team
  • Build team culture of empowerment and accountability
  • Assess current hazmat and regulatory handling programs
  • Develop standard work instructions and procedures for key activities
  • Responsible for domestic and international shipments
  • Main point of contact for internal and external customer escalations, ship sets and problems triage
  • Work with Materials Manager to identify and implement process improvements and best practices and other assigned duties.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 4+ years' supervisor experience in a warehouse or equivalent environment
  • Proven ability to effectively lead warehouse personnel to achieve company's goals and objectives
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage several tasks simultaneously with the highest level of accuracy, enthusiasm, diplomacy and attention to detail
  • Able to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Must have experience with 5S, lean manufacturing, and warehouse organization
  • Experience with SAP System preferred
  • Computer literate, specifically: MS Office Skills, with high proficiency in Excel & Access, Knowledge of Edwards transactions and planning systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Evidence of an analytical approach using qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrates experience in strategic involvement where individual judgment would have a direct bearing on company performance.
  • English language essential, other languages, particularly Spanish would be an advantage
  • Experience with HazMat DOT/IATA shipping regulations a plus
  • Ability to perform physical functions to include lifting 50 lbs
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
