David Evans and Associates, Inc. is looking to add an entry-level Construction Inspector to our Transportation Business Unit based in our Pocatello, ID office. As part of our Construction Engineering Services Group, this position will provide on-site construction inspection and applicable documentation for transportation projects. This includes observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures.

Responsibilities:



  • Inspect, observe and document project is constructed in accordance with contract documents.
  • Maintain accurate daily record of the work (labor, equipment, materials, and quantities).
  • Perform technical calculations and related work in the field or office.
  • Communicate with the Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Lead Inspector, or other field engineering staff.
  • Calculating quantities and producing sketches in excel, CADD, or by hand.
  • Coordinate for required materials sampling and testing.



Basic Qualifications:



  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
  • Basic computer skills in Word and Excel, as well as a proficiency in basic math skills.
  • Excellent skills in working independently and in a team environment, as well as asking appropriate questions.
  • Effectively multitask and prioritize and track construction issues through to completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to obtain ITD inspector and WAQTC certifications within 6 months.
  • Clean driving record.



Desirable Qualifications:



  • Experience in reviewing and understanding plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of the practices used, and the equipment required on construction projects
  • AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience
