The position is responsible for leading shift activities of the Finishing Department which transforms secured card sheets to secured cards via manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure the production and timely delivery of high-quality plastic secured cards according to customer specifications and Company quality objectives

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 3:00pm-1:00am



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Finishing Shift Lead:

    Stages jobs for processing within the department to ensure meeting shipment date
  • Assigns individual and teamwork in order to effectively complete shift production schedule accurately and on time
  • Inspects work arriving from the press department to ensure internal quality control and customer job specifications (testing)
  • Reports any needed repairs or equipment defects on his/her assigned shift to Maintenance Technician and Finishing Manager
  • Provides regular feedback regarding performance to Finishing Operators on assigned shift consistently and fairly and reports and documents same to Finishing Manager
  • Completes performance review documents and conducts performance review discussions with employees on assigned shift
  • Ensures work is organized and documentation completed for next shift including shop floor data
  • Ensures security and audit standards and records are implemented, maintained and documented in order to support the Company's certification status
  • Ensures conformance to ISO 9001:2000 certification for all areas of responsibility
  • Trains shift personnel in all technical finishing areas or may assign others to do the same
  • Keeps necessary department supplies stocked for the next shift and reports supply needs to Finishing Manager
  • Backs up other shift leads for vacation coverage.

Finishing Operator (working leads)

  • Able to operate all Finishing equipment including tacker, laminator, die-cutter, sampling, inspection, hot stamper, and shipping equipment as needed
  • Operates assigned machine or function based on specific work instructions and according to hands-on training received
  • Responsible for accurate machine setup, operations, loading and unloading of materials and error adjustments based on product specifications and customer job ticket requirements
  • Continually checks, monitors and corrects any quality issues that may occur during each customer job run to minimize downtime and waste
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance and repairs and reports any mechanical defects to Finishing Shift Lead or Finishing Manager on assigned equipment
  • Maintains an accurate record of all completed work in shop floor data system and/or manual forms as required
  • Completes required audit paperwork based on job stage and equipment operated
  • Ensures completed product is staged in the next work area with appropriate job ticket information attached
  • Keeps materials, supplies, product carts, boxes, cartons, and other supplies needed stocking in assigned area and notifies Shift Lead of any supply needs
  • Maintains acceptable productivity, quality, service, spoilage, security and safety goals
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area
  • Follows all company procedures and rules
  • Follows all customer mandated security procedures and process requirements
  • Conducts self in a respectful and professional manner with a focus on teamwork, quality, and timeliness at all times


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent with minimum 3-5 years of experience using assembly, inspection and shipping equipment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact and effectively lead others and to effectively train all employee levels in all technical areas of the finishing department
  • Solid detail and decision making skills in order to set and adjust the schedule, set up equipment, check product quality and make adjustments to meet customer deadlines and requirements
  • Solid math skills to be able to compute percentages, weights, and measures
  • Must be able to set up computer-aided machinery and to operate Windows-based personal computers
  • Ability to follow/interpret complex written and oral instructions and specifications
  • Elementary English proficiency communication skills necessary
  • Must be security and safety-oriented
  • Must be reliable through good attendance, punctuality, and cooperation

Physical Demands

  • Work is conducted in a standing position and requires walking, bending, stooping and lifting of materials up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis
  • Work involves decision making, dealing with fine detail and constant human interaction, which can be tiring - both mentally and physically
  • The environment is noisy and may require ear protection
  • Work involves good eyesight, hand/eye coordination, and normal color vision to be able to ensure a quality product and maintain safety
  • Work involves full use of hands/fingers in order to use precision or semi-precision equipment, tools or instruments requiring deft hand movements
  • Works with rapidly moving machinery that may require quick adjustments to minimize waste and time
  • Work is conducted in shifts and may require overtime on other shifts to meet deadlines
