Position Description

PALA Interstate, LLC

?General Description:

Responsibilities include supporting the corporate strategic recruitment and retention objectives sourcing, identifying screening and selecting all levels of candidates for skilled trades, administrative, technical and professional and managerial positions to work in various facilities along the Gulf Coast. Also responsible for placing advertisements in print and on-line resources: attending job fairs, creating and maintaining relationships with a variety of recruiting partners including colleges, employers, employment offices and professional associations. Maintain resumes and candidate data and complete reports for submission to corporate and regional management. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and perform other human resources activities in support of management as directed.

Essential Functions:

1. Assist in the coordination and administration of tank, piping and civil, maintenance and capital project recruiting, including employment advertising, affirmative action posting, reviewing resumes/job applications, arranging interviews and administering various craft assessment tests. Maintains applicant tracking information and updates database on a regular basis.

2. Maintain the database of qualified craftsmen including, welders, foremen, pipe fitters, civil carpenters and various other field labor candidates.

3. Analyze craft and technical personnel needs for current company projects through discussions with the Divisional Senior Manager as well as department managers, project managers and superintendents, etc. Based upon such information, prepare and implement recruitment programs for each project and/or group.

4. Assist Senior Management with short and long-term Craft planning and labor needs.

5. Analyze information provided on prospective employee's application, conduct interviews, and determine suitability for employment. When applicant is determined to be qualified, perform additional background reference investigation (i.e., verification of licenses/certifications, reference checks and work history, etc.) to obtain adequate information on which to base a hiring decision.

6. Following up with timely notification to job sites of manpower requisition status.

Administer craft skills testing and other pre-employment applicant activities. Coordinate/schedule safety training with Safety Departments.

7. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and corporate policies and procedures.

8. Prepare and send new hire packets, conduct new employee orientations, obtain completed paperwork from new hires and answer applicant/employee questions.

9. Maintain and update employee personnel files in a confidential manner.

10. Occasional travel to out of state job sites required.

Position Requirements
  • 4+ years of high-volume recruiting experience; recruiting craft and specialized field/labor functions in the industrial construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred; or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrate skill in the successful development and implementation of creative recruiting strategies.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Solid knowledge of federal and state laws regarding employment practices.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and human resources software applications.
  • Professional approach and demeanor.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Driver's License and meet appropriate motor vehicle insurance requirements.
