Job Description

Torch Technologies, Inc. is seeking a full time Assistant Buyer to perform procurement tasks. Successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment as a team player performing a variety of functions within the Procurement Team. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual capable of working independently and within a team environment and possess good oral and written communication skills. This job description below is intended to provide general operational guidelines and is not necessarily inclusive of all functional activities associated with the position.

Responsibilities:



  • Communicate with suppliers on a proactive basis to obtain current order delivery information.
  • Review purchase order status through utilization of Torch's ERP system and manage workload in coordination with procurement personnel.
  • Enter procurement updates into Torch's ERP system.
  • Assist with investigating shipping and invoicing discrepancies as they occur.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with buyers, program leads, accounting, and other department staff as needed.
  • Evaluate and recommend process improvements for efficient resolution of late/backorder issues and provide pro-active support to the Procurement team to help resolve order discrepancies and billing/invoice related issues.
  • Research and recommend alternate products with supplier coordination, upon request, to procurement personnel for discontinued or backordered items.
  • Assist with research and support for various Supply Chain projects, as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.
  • Research and input supplier capabilities and qualifications in accordance with Torch's Approved Supplier Evaluation process. Assist with computing Supplier Performance monthly/annually.
  • Input data into various government databases for required reporting.
  • Support metrics and analysis required to ensure compliance within a Government Approved Purchasing System and AS9100 requirements.
  • Assist with pulling information together for data calls in support of various audit requests.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:



  • Candidate should possess a BS Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
  • Ability to organize workload and provide team level support.
  • Attention to detail and initiative to independently work complex problems to closure.
  • Ability to effectively communicate well with other departments throughout the company as well as Torch's suppliers and customers.
  • Experience working with Information system tools such as SharePoint and Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience in Purchasing, Materials Management, or relevant technical or analytical discipline, preferred.
  • Experience in an AS9100 environment, preferred.
