Retirement Plans Analyst

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Retirement Plans Analyst is responsible for accurate retirement plan administration and compliance reporting and communication to employees and retirees to facilitate transactions and ensure understanding of plans and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for accurate and precise reconcilement of biweekly retirement plan contributions from payroll to investment carrier/third party defined contribution record-keeper and notification of funding to Finance, determining employee plan eligibility and forwarding notification to record-keeper.
  • Confers with Director, Retirement Plans and Counsel as needed on appropriate actions in response to changing regulations related to Retirement Plan Administration.
  • Authorizes employee defined contribution distributions and facilitates other transactions as needed.
  • Maintains a knowledge of the content and administration of fourteen retirement plans and a knowledge of ERISA and IRS regulations as they relate to administration and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates with 3rd party vendors, Jefferson Finance and Internal Audit and files with DOL the annual Form 5500 including: Schedule A (insurance information), Schedule B (actuarial information), and Schedule SSA (identification of separated employees with deferred vested benefits).
  • Completes PBGC Premium Payment forms and insures the premiums are remitted in a timely fashion.
  • Works with defined contribution and defined benefit third party administrators to provide problem resolution regarding employee issues consistent with customer service standards.
  • Works closely with actuaries and investment carriers to facilitate plan administration.
  • Assists in benefits administration through conducting group new employee orientation briefings.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelorrsquo;s degree in Human Resources or related field required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience in working with defined contribution and/or defined benefit pension plans preferred.
  • Previous experience in working with pension vendors, auditors, actuaries, and other external pension contacts.
  • Experience in customer service activities as related to pension and tax deferred annuity plans preferred
