The Coordinator of Simulation and Clinical Skills will be responsible for coordinating all clinical skills and simulation activities for undergraduate and graduate nursing students, ensuring the proper utilization of simulation lab space. This position will implement an efficient system for day to day program operations, maintaining readiness of simulation lab areas; determining equipment needs; and maintaining an inventory of supplies. Additionally, this position will provide nursing students (at all levels) with direct instruction in the skills laboratory and simulation setting, working in conjunction with faculty whose courses relate to clinical skills and simulation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates all clinical skills and simulation activities for undergraduate and graduate nursing students, serving as logistical coordinator to assure proper utilization of space. Maintains readiness of lab areas for students to engage in clinical skill practice and simulation through targeted setup and securing equipment/supplies to match intended learning activities. Instructs support staff regarding preparation of the area. Implements an efficient system for day-to-day program operations: Determines equipment needs for requested learning sessions and maintains an inventory of supplies through proactive inventory assessment and ordering. Participates in teaching and employing standardized principles of simulation to the faculty and students. Participates in planning and evaluation meetings with teaching faculty pre-term and post-term for scheduled courses related to clinical skills and simulation. Participates in assessing Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement of all simulation programs. Provides direct instruction in the skills laboratory and simulation setting for all level of nursing students. Participates in remediation of student skillsrsquo; performance across programs. Maintains awareness of relevant changes in clinical practice to assure best-practice principles are followed in simulation areas. Serves as a professional role model for students, maintaining open channels of communication with students, course faculty, and staff. Attends relevant meetings to ensure continuity with programmatic initiatives. Participates with Jefferson Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (JCIPE). Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Earned doctorate in nursing or an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION: Licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Academic appointment at the rank of Clinical Instructor (at a minimum) in a collegiate nursing program Evidence of experience and engagement with skills labs/simulation experiences Evidence of progressive academic responsibilities Evidence of effective teaching Evidence of ongoing clinical competency Jefferson includes Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health, a dynamic university and health system with broad reach across the Delaware Valley.
