Summary: Provides nutritional assessment and management of transplant candidates, recipients and living donors throughout all phases of the transplant process. Serves as a nutrition resource to medical and nursing staff and other health care team members maintaining professional competency and skills required for practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assesses the nutrition needs of transplant patients and living donors and determines nutrient requirements based on age and disease specific needs of the patient.
  • Develops, implements and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of nutrition intervention in conjunction with the patientrsquo;s healthcare team.
  • Provides nutrition education to transplant patients and living donors.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings and programsrsquo; performance improvement initiatives.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.
  • B.S. in Nutrition or Dietetics is required
  • 3-5 years hospital/critical care experience required
  • Masterrsquo;s degree in related area is preferred
  • Experience with solid organ transplant patients preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

  • Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as RD or RDN
  • Member of the American Dietetics Association
  • Pennsylvania Dietitian/Nutritionist License (LDN)
  • Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian (CCTD) certification within 2 years of becoming eligible based on eligibility criteria.
