Lead Info Technology Engineer

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for design and development of facilities to extend and enhance the IT Infrastructure for all telephony, networking, database, compute and/or storage. The incumbent will possess the highest level industry recognized certification in Networking/Telephony, Database, Compute or Storage Domains with commensurate experience in engineering solutions. The position will serve as principal engineer and coordinate the engineering resources efforts needed to deliver an engineering solution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead multi-discipline design teams to provide solutions and capacity planning of a complex IT infrastructure.
  • Plans and configures equipment and services throughout the on prem or cloud environment(s) including wireless communications, switches/routers, VoIP, SAN, or server.
  • Responsible for resilient (clustered) systems installed across multiple physical and/or virtual data centers, multiple locations. Design, configuration, and support the continuum from firmware updates to cloud services to control plane.
  • Responsible for researching emerging technologies in the areas of responsibility and keeping abreast of industry technology trends, available products and services.

Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Works with vendors/carriers for tertiary troubleshooting enterprise issues.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamental concepts appropriate domain
  • Respond to issue escalation and service interruption as required. Operational support responsibilities including, performance tuning, license management, installation of software upgrades, user support, and systems monitoring. Works closely with internal technical teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve any incidents and problems.
  • Provide Operation Support on amp; off hours; including but not limited to build and/or upgrade support.
  • Create design documentation including ldquo;as builtrdquo; documents, design summaries, migration plans, and Visio diagrams as appropriate. Documents internal process, end user documentation and builds knowledge base for the ISamp;T organization as it relates to technical details, project details, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain effective external relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers; leverages these relationships to ensure that the best fit solutions and resources available to Jefferson.

Design, develop, configure and sustain engineering support of all services.

Typical Duties amp; Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security.
  • Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure
  • Analyze existing operational standards, processes, and/or governance to identify and implement improvements

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors Degree preferred.

Highest level industry recognized certification in networking/telephony (e.g. CCIE,) Compute (e.g. MCP in key area, VMware Certified Professional - VCP, RedHat Certified Engineer ndash;RHCE,) Database (e.g. Vendor Specific Certification: - MCSA: SQL Server related Advanced Certification, EPIC: Operational Database Administrator or Storage (e.g. Vendor Specific Storage Certification: Pure FlashBlade/Array Architect Professional, Hitachi Vantare Qualified Professional, EMC Isilon Administrator)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Seven years + in a relavant operations position

Five years as a lead engineer in relevant position

Three years in depth experience in a single domain

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. Participates in special projects as required.

Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately.

Service awareness of all organizationrsquo;s key IT services for which support is being provided.

Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services. Have knowledge of tools, equipment and materials common to voice and data systems.

  • 4+ years of Microsoft Azure experience involving design, deployment, configuration, and optimization.
  • 6+ years of experience with IaaS and PaaS solutions
  • Experience in the design and operation of large scale enterprise infrastructure, databases, and application systems
  • Experience working within an Agile framework; experience working within an ITIL service delivery framework
  • Experience in IaC development with Terraform, Azure CLI, and Ansible
  • Experience scripting with Azure PowerShell
  • Experience with Windows, Linux VMs, networking, routing amp; firewalls
  • Experience with Azure services such as AKS, Azure Analytics amp; Data warehouse Platforms, Azure policy, Azure Site Recovery, etc
  • Proficient with GIT, ADO to perform source code management
  • Experience with ServiceNow
  • Competence in a wide range of IT skills including networking, systems administration, data protection, information security and CI/CD tooling
