EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates/Bachelors degree or commensurate experience (10 yrs +) in Financial Aid

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred work experience in a higher education Registrarrsquo;s Office or Financial Aid Office.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Experience with Banner or other Enterprise system.
  • Preferred knowledge of Degree Works, COD and Direct loans.
  • Experience in Higher Education preferred

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

University Coordinator of Financial Aid will work with an Financial Aid office team of 4 full time Financial Aid professional Staff and7 Staff that have blended duties. Coordinator will predominately be responsible for all aspects of the Private Loan processing and related lender responsibiltiteis. Coordinator will also be responsible for the ever-growing ldquo;part-timerdquo; student population (over 600 students), reviewing their applications for aid, deciding on funding based on eligibility, merit, and professional judgment, reviewing and determining outcome of aid appeals from students/parents, and counseling students on aid options, budgeting, and debt management. The office is highly regulated by federal, state, institutional, and private aid entities. Therefore, this position is responsible for the proper interpretation of federal, state, and institutional regulations/policies. The department is a student service department, and therefore, customer service is paramount

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees staff who process Need Analysis for all student populations and managing the verification requirement including the DRT/tax transcripts This includes trouble shooting problems, monitoring, and maintaining constant communication. All Verification oversight activities flow through this position
  • Reviews/Awards/Counsels/Verifies JCPH students, JCLS students, and JCN Graduate student populations (about 600 students). Reviews applications for aid and determines outcome of aid, special circumstance, and Cost of Attendance appeals. Counsels students on proper budgeting, managing money, federal repayment programs, provides repayment strategies, and counsels families on aid options based on budgets and overall debt management.
  • Responsible for processing over $16 million in Private Student Loans via the ELM system. Work with Director of Academic Services to perform applicable refunds to lenders, and keep abreast on changes to programs that necessitate Banner set up and ELM setup updates.
  • Conducts and presents Financial literacy seminars, orientations, open house workshops. This includes repayment preparation workshops, preparation for medical school, and health professions pipeline programs to high school and undergraduate students. Presentations will number between 7 and 10 a year.
  • Manages all communications aspect as it relates to the Office Email. Office email averages over 200 emails a day, and requires timely and accurate communication, knowledgeable responses, attention to detail, and proper notation of contact in the Banner electronics notes module.
  • Supports a team based work environment; interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the mission of the Office of Academic Services and the core values of the University.

OTHER FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES needed in addition to Essential Functions:

  • Assist Associate Director of Financial Aid in management of PA State Grant, assisting in reporting and reconciling.
  • Assists Director in A133/Uniform Guidance Audit
  • Special projects regarding additional awards, outside scholarship applications, and other reporting as needed
