Job Summary

The CARTA BBC Advising Services Office is currently seeking an Advising Center Front Desk Office Assistant.
Duties to include:

  • Serve as first point-of-contact for the School of Communication and the Lee Caplin School of Journalism & Media (Front desk coverage, Answering phones)
  • Maintains the reception area includes updating bulletin boards, refreshing handouts, identifying cleaning needs, etc
  • Assist with drop-ins, orientations, and scheduled advisor appointments, may perform Panthersoft transactions.
  • Provides clerical, and administrative support for the supervisor, and academic advisors and students; not limited to scanning student records, calendar, data entry, outreach phone call campaigns, and student drop-in's, etc.
  • Prepares a of variety materials including correspondence, memoranda as needed
  • Complete mandatory trainings that requires compliance with the university policies and procedures including FERPA, cybersecurity, etc.
  • Requirements: Complete Microsoft Excel, Teams, Forms, SharePoint, and Outlook Training

Who May Apply

  • Students enrolled at FIU, who have been awarded Federal Work Study (FWS) as part of their Financial Aid Award package.
  • Student must be enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours in a course of study leading to a degree or a Financial Aid eligible certificate, during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
  • Upon credits decreasing, award being canceled, or graduating, FWS employment must end.
Work Schedule

Hours will vary based on class schedule and needs of the department.
