Job Summary

SOBEWFF Experiential Learning & Community Engagement Program General Job Summary:
Prospective employees in these roles will work with SOBEWFF Managers to assist with planning and coordination of all Festival related duties.
- Pay rate is $14.50/hr.
- Maximum of 20 hours a week.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be current FIU students enrolled during both the 2024 Fall and 2025 Spring semesters.
  • Previous SOBEWFF experience or industry experience
  • Must be a self-starter and possess a high level of responsibility and organization
  • Must have the ability to maintain pleasant working relationships and work well in a high stress team environment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must possess strong communication skills and customer service skills
  • Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, Outlook and Zoom.
  • Should have a laptop, email, smartphone and reliable internet access to work remotely as needed.
  • Willing to do some light physical labor
  • Schedule must be flexible for the entire month of February and fully available on-site the week of the Festival, February 17 - 24, 2025.

SOBEWFF Experiential Learning & Community Engagement Program Social Media & Marketing Assistant
Location: Festival Student Program Office @ Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management

Scope of Work:
  • Assist with on-site training and supervision of social media team as needed for your events.
  • Work closely with Festival & FIU Marketing team to assist in the overall brand and image of SOBEWFF Student Program marketing.
  • Works closely with Festival Marketing Manager to ensure all Festival branding guidelines are followed.
  • Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy including analytics and campaign performance tracking.
  • Assist in on-going campaign analytics reporting and daily campaign optimization.
  • Assist in the creation and development of event-specific HTML coded e-blasts.
  • Create engaging text, image and video content for multiple platforms.
  • Create general and Event specific social media materials and content.
  • Must be able to participate in brief weekly update calls with the social team
  • Full availability to attend events during Festival week (February 22 - 29, 2024) to assist with content-gathering and engagement.
  • Experience with Figma a plus
SOBEWFF Experiential Learning & Community Engagement Program Recruitment Coordinator & Event Assistant
Location: Festival Student Program Office @ Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management

Scope of Work:
  • Assisting in the recruitment, placement, training and supervision of over 1300 student and community participants for the Festival. This involves recruitment both on and off campus, in person and virtual (Zoom) interviews.
  • Coordinators are assigned 10-15 events and are responsible for communicating with their Event Managers regarding staffing details for each event.
  • Recruit and maintain constant communication with student and community participants for each event via Discord communication server.
  • Commute to various schools and organizations to recruit student and community participants.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and email inquiries
  • If hired, must familiarize yourself with all Festival events in order to provide knowledgeable answers to general questions
  • Assist with on-site scheduling, meals and distribution of materials to all events
  • Assist with post-Festival responsibilities including attendance tracking, correction and creation of timesheets for parking and scholarship disbursement
  • Provide feedback from Festival events to Program Managers to improve Festival efficiencies
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking / speaking in front of a large group of people
  • General administrative duties
Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing.
  • Possess a high sense of responsibility and customer service skills.
  • Ability to solve problems independently.

  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
