Job Description Summary

This Production Planner 1 is responsible for detailed production planning for a number of product families through multi-purpose production work centers in the Special Products manufacturing facilities, for various activities supporting production planning process, maintenance of Routings and Bill of Materials, and initiation/release of production work orders.

Job Description

  • Develop achievable Master Schedules/Plans that meet net requirements.

  • Prepare detailed (short term) work center production schedules in support of requirements from the Master Production System and coordinate with Manufacturing.

  • Perform detailed capacity planning to identify gaps between scheduled demand and production capabilities.

  • Maintain routings and bills of material to support the production planning and materials resourcing requirements.

  • Provide overall and administrative support for the Master Schedulers/Senior Production Planners. Coordinate and perform daily production support activities such as setting and creating manufacturing work orders and requisitioning of raw materials.

  • Working closely with the DEA Compliance department to best manage quota to meet the goals of the business unit while maintaining regulatory compliance.

  • Coordinate input planned production into the Manufacturing system (AS400).

  • Actively participate in cost reduction projects / activities.

  • Maintain departmental metrics.

  • Thorough research of backorders that includes: demand/forecast analysis; provide accurate recovery information; identify root cause of backorder and implement corrective action.

  • Analyze inventory variances and follow up on corrective actions.

  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

B.S./ B.A. Degree or equivalent experience in related field required.

Experience:

0-2 Years in Manufacturing Planning or related field

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Basic familiarity with ERP / Operations systems
  • Skills/Competencies:
  • Working knowledge of GMP and ISO practices
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma/Kaizen practices
  • Time management
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis and drive problems to resolution
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analysis to problem solve for success.

Other Skills:

  • Ability to keep detailed records
  • Attention to detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Able to analyze, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Security clearance is required
