Summary:

The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Writer to provide contractor support for reviewing and updating national policies and procedures regarding environmental compliance and Tribal trust asset management. The evolving nature of regulations necessitates continuous evaluation and updates to ensure compliance with current standards and practices. The ideal candidate should be a technical expert in the National Environmental Policy Act, have a broad understanding of Tribal trust asset management regulations, and possess expertise in policy development, stakeholder coordination, and implementation.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Researches, organizes, writes, edits, and produces data for a wide variety of highly complex technical publications.
  • Recommends overall organization and layout, editorial standards, and publication methods.
  • Coordinates publication with outside sources and vendors as needed. Develops department editing standards and styles.
  • Checks document for spelling, grammar, and content problems.
  • Interviews engineers and other technical personnel, as needed.
  • May provide task direction to team members.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and capacity to arrange and implement fieldwork safely and effectively with consideration to remote locations, logistics, and weather (limited field season for survey work).
  • Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least three (3) years of related experience.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $95,000 per year.
