Position Summary

The Director, Workforce Development role is responsible to administer all aspects of the career technical education (CTE) training, workforce development, and job placement efforts offered through AMIkids. Responsibilities include development of CTE, apprenticeship and pre apprenticeship programs, curriculum development, establishment of consistent policies & procedures across schools, implementation of workplace mentoring, workplace service-learning projects, workforce activities that lead to employment, job placement, and follow-up services. Additionally, the position fulfills the role of project manager for the implementation of all federal, state, and local grants & funds secured for career technical education training, workforce development, & job placement.

Essential Job Duties




  • Direct and coordinate CTE workforce development and training programs for AMIkids,



  • Ensure that successful job placement is the key outcome of the department,



  • Development of occupational curriculum which qualifies for educational credits in the many school districts AMIkids educates students in and which eventually leads to the successful achievement of industry recognized certifications in high demand industries,



  • Management of staff in the areas of health care, construction trades and related fields, food handling, food management, and any additional education tracks approved by The Leadership Team,



  • Confer with members of industrial and business communities to determine human resource training needs for apprentice-able and non-apprentice-able occupations,



  • Serve as project manager for federal, state, and local grants & funds secured for CTE training & job placement, managing organizational-wide implementation, reporting to the DOL, and constant tracking of outcomes to ensure the goals of the grant are met,



  • Review and interpret federal and state CTE/vocational education codes to ensure that programs conform to legislation,



  • Prepare budget and funding allocations for CTE programs,



  • Review and approve new programs,



  • Manage implementation partnerships such as NCCER, The National Health Care Association, and The National Restaurant Associations,



  • Evaluate apprentice-able and non-apprentice-able programs, considering factors, such as selection, training, and placement of participants,



  • In conjunction with Department of Corporate Partnerships, support the establishment of corporate partnerships for the purposes of corporate support, the hiring of our participants, the provision of workforce mentoring, service-learning projects, and integrated support post placement,



  • Organize committees to provide technical and advisory assistance to programs,



  • Coordinate on-the-job training (OJT) programs with employers, and evaluate progress of participants in conjunction with program contract goals,



  • Support any and all AMIkids schools who add occupational training programs and job placement from start up to active performance and follow up periods,



  • Strategically lead the organization in the evolution of workforce training and job or post-secondary education placement services,



  • Manage and lead the workforce development partnerships across the organization,



  • Review and revise training and implementation materials to ensure alignment with grant awards,



  • Work in conjunction with the Department of Resource Development and Support Services for the securing of funds for occupational training and job placement across AMIkids,



  • May travel for work related duties,



  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.




Minimum Education, Training and Experience



  • Master's degree in Education or Educational Leadership & Administration, Superintendent and or School Administration,
  • Minimum five (5) years (10 years preferred) experience managing the occupational training and job placement functions of a school, school district, workforce development board and/or non-profit organization,
  • Prior experience with measurable outcomes implementing occupational training and job placement,
  • Prior experience with data-driven decision making,
  • Experience with grants preferred,
  • Experience with apprenticeship programs preferred,
  • Prior experience with virtual presentation and meeting formats (i.e. Teams or Zoom) preferred,
  • Experience with working with systems impacted youth,
  • Proficient or advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
