General Responsibilities |
The Audio Visual Control Systems Administrator is responsible for the digital architecture, Graphic User Interface Development, programmable digital signal processing, and control server administration for all
HCC AV systems on main campus and satellite locations. The Audio-Visual Control System Administrator works with critical stakeholders, engineers, consultants, and vendors to create, update, and archive control system programming and scripting for integrated presentation, entertainment, and media production systems. This role produces professional control system and server scripting and creates and edits uncompiled digital architecture to meet AV system operations goals. This role requires experience with advanced audio system engineering, and digital sound processing. This position works in construction and project environments, evaluating AV submittals, RFI's and phased commissioning of AV system programming
The AV Control System Administrator serves as project manager for individual AV system integration projects; especially pertaining to control system integration, audio processing, streaming media, or server related initiatives. This position works with
HCC Network and Facilities and Project Managers to meet all college, legal, and safety compliance requirements. This position is responsible for maintaining current industry and professional training; staying current with emerging programming and scripting technology. |
Work Performed |
Digital Architecture, Programming, and Scripting
* Creates and updates college standards for control and integration logic and architecture for presentation control system hardware; integrating, routing, and automating Audio-Visual equipment and systems
* Develops hardware specific control operations modules for emerging technologies; determining physical infrastructure requirements and creating code
* Maintains and updates digital security standards for networked AV control systems
* Creates, updates, customizes ergonomics and Graphic User Interface profiles; establishing enterprise level standards and functionality
* Troubleshoots and engineers remediations for all system programming and code related system failures; programming, scripting, and coding all required modifications
* Creates and maintains digital archives and backup repositories for iterative revisions of control system programming
Digital Signal Processing
* Designs and creates audio processing and distribution architecture; directly programming and modifying Digital Sound Processors and streaming signal distribution infrastructure
* Develops signal processing and distribution profiles based on acoustic engineering and digital processing standards
* Works with AV Systems Engineer to correlate physical and digital acoustic and distribution infrastructure
Server Administration
* Designs and programs enterprise AV hardware monitoring and operations server software
* Creates control system tie-ins, and networked administration scripts for automated system processes
* Programs and administers remote system command modules and remote user assistance pages
Project Development and Management
* Evaluates legal, security, and industry trends to identify and develop priority enterprise system updates and project initiatives
* Manages vendors and coordinates with internal stakeholders to accomplish control system and signal processing projects and initiatives
* Commissions and evaluates control system integration, and contracted services for control system and control server related projects

* Valid MD Driver's License
* Ability to read, build, and program professional AV systems based on schematic diagrams
* Manual and finger dexterity; arm-hand steadiness
* Visual color discrimination (ability to match or detect difference between colors, including shades of color and brightness)
* Near vision (ability to see details at close range)
* Hearing acuity (ability to detect and differentiate high and low frequencies at low Dbs.)
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
* Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
