General Responsibilities |
The Assistant Director will coordinate all tutorial services offered in the Learning Assistance Center. Responsible for quality oversight of tutors, tutor training, and learning center programming. Will work closely with all related directors and personnel on new program development, program refinement, and development and implementation of short and long-term goals. Coordinate recruiting, hiring, training, orientation, supervision, performance and program evaluation, and scheduling for 60+ part-time tutors. Collaborate with directors working with special populations on tutoring needs of students in their programs. Responsible for TracCloud software management and maintaining accurate semester tutoring data. Responsible for maintaining
CRLA certification and developing materials for training program re-certification every five years. Assist with data collection for special populations, college-wide programs, and grant reporting. Ensure tutor coverage and provide problem resolution. |
Work Performed |
- Recruit, interview, and hire 25-30 tutors each year to maintain a pool of 60+ active tutors needed each semester
- Conduct orientation training for new hires
- Create and monitor tutor scheduling for day, evening, and weekend tutoring
- Monitor the online tutor writing service
- Supervise tutors and coordinate with lead tutors to provide training, evaluation, observation, and feedback
- Coordinate ongoing professional development opportunities for tutors that lead to CRLA Level 1, 2, and 3 certification
- Collaborate with Disability Support Services to ensure accommodations are in place on time
- Update information in the TracCloud system. Coordinate with the IT department to troubleshoot system issues, update software in the computer lab, and maintain instructional laptops
- Work with other campus tutoring center coordinators to centralize data, train staff, and streamline services
- Track and analyze student tutoring usage and retention data
- Promptly address tutor, student, and professor concerns and complaints
- Collaborate with faculty to provide embedded tutoring, determine supports needed outside of the classroom, and obtain appropriate supplemental materials
- Write the quarterly tutor newsletter and communications to tutors, faculty, staff
- Assist with budget preparation and administration

- Regular attendance is a requirement of this job. Must be able to work some in-person evening and weekend hours
