KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Lead projects to facilitate changes in the manufacturing process.
  • Prioritize the research and implementation of continuous improvement, safety, and quality control.
  • Analyze the financial sustainability and viability of established manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot product problems related to designs, materials, or production processes.
  • Provide technical support for engineering functions, including fabrication processes, assembly methods, quality control, product design, and materials or parts.
  • Attend daily production meetings to identify immediate issues and find solutions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and co-workers in a variety of departments as needed.
  • Conduct research and troubleshoot when issues arise in the design or production processes.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes for the production and design of TCF products by identifying opportunities to reduce costs or improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate workflow and equipment placement and spacing to optimize production.
  • Complete various manufacturing engineering assignments following general guidance and objectives - e.g., product design, air flow, new equipment & procedures.
  • Evaluate and acquire materials for assigned projects.
  • Develop machine drawings and manuals.
  • Review engineering prints for accuracy and putting in change requests when necessary.
  • Participate in implementing new methods and systems, including preparing documentation, designing and installing new equipment, conducting training for others, and designing tests to evaluate new methods.
  • Identify areas of safety improvement and implement solutions to reduce injuries or accidents.
  • Evaluate areas of quality improvement and implement solutions to reduce waste.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:




  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
  • One of the following:

    • 4-year degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanical drafting, or related science.
    • 2-year degree in engineering, drafting or related science plus an additional 2-years of relevant work experience.


  • 2+ years of SolidWorks experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles, procedures, and technology.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction with a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:




  • Master's degree in engineering or related science.
  • Experience with design or test engineering within the air moving industry.
  • Knowledge of the design and manufacturing of sheet metal parts is highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Basic understanding of Measurement Techniques (i.e. calipers, micrometer, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  • Project management experience or capabilities.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • 20% standard office environment/80% production floor environment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach.
  • Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer.
  • Ability to work extended hours sitting at a computer Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to high places, fumes or airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the plant environment is usually loud.
