Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to set up and execute routine tests for different products in accordance with standard testing methodologies and requirements. Each day, you will perform your tasks or activities using skills and techniques as well as a practical understanding of concepts used in the field of technology. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring proper documentation of the test results. The work model for the role is: onsite (Li-Onsite) This role is contributing to the Electrification Installation Products division in Hackettstown, NJ. You will be mainly accountable for: *Assist R&D engineers in development work evaluating components, prototype assembly and product verification testing and prepare clear, concise, and accurate laboratory reports, including the necessary charts, graphs and calculations as required. *Perform certification testing to UL, CSA, and IEC standards to test products and prototypes; Be able to interpret results to verify that performance matches requirements. *Construct test setups and fixtures requiring mechanical and electrical construction as directed by R&D engineer and / or test standard specifications. *Setup and collect data with test equipment like Instron tensile testers, ammeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, thermometers. *Assist and participate in ISO 17025 audits for UL and CSA accreditations and follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
Qualifications for the role
- Associate's Degree in Engineering, preferably in a mechanical or electrical/electronic discipline.
- Two years formal training in a technical, vocational, or certificate program will be considered in lieu of Associate Degree if appropriate technical skills are demonstrated.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a comparable product engineering or test laboratory environment; Electrification industry preferred.
- Able to read, correctly interpret, and apply test requirements from international and domestic agency performance standards.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
