Wausau Window and Wall Systems
Summary of Position: Responsible for Tubelite-brand (DFG) inventory, packaging, and shipping activities. Lead, facilitate, train and mentor team members in particularly in the areas of safety, quality, production, and Lean Process Flow.Assign and delegate duties to drive results. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
- Directly supervise production staff. Lead, facilitate, train and mentor team members in all aspects of performance. Key focus in the areas of safety, quality, production, and lean process flow.
- Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to established manufacturing sequences and lead times. Proactively alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- Manage department assignments through understanding and fulfill material requirements of Wausau Fab, DFW, Monett, and Toronto.
- Work closely with Wausau Finishing (Paint and Anodize) for both material and labor requirements.
- Provides informational updates to Logistics and Client Services as needed through Expeditor or individually.
- Deploy and monitor staffing to execute production schedule.
- Confer with department Supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
- Provide schedule updates, monitor, and update ERP schedules as required.
- Monitor and manage resource needs, labor usage and overtime expectation to deliver OTC&C
- Proactive improvement of processes and procedures to maximize capacity, results of key metrics and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain positive communications with a variety of other departments and shifts. Encourage team involvement in improvement initiatives.
- Apply Lean principles in own work performance and drive Lean application in company operations. Write standard operating procedures and work instructions for key processes
- Train production employees on all SOP's and Work Instructions and log into document management/training system
- Adhere to established company and corporate policies, national and state laws, and business procedures.
- Set clear performance expectations for team members. Perform employee disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and investigate adverse issues.
- Achieve optimal standards in on-time delivery, productivity, quality and safety.
- Lead and improve safety and housekeeping initiatives including monthly department safety meetings.
- Adhere to established Safety policies and procedures and train people to ensure a safe environment for all associates.
- Lead and facilitate shift communication daily. Perform in and nurture a team-based environment, initiate group interaction, resolve conflict and build consensus. Provide support to team during scheduled production hours. Execute department team meetings.
- Monitor and maintain product and process quality compliance.
- Develop and implement cross-training.
- Undertake job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the company's Core Values.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Two- or four-year degree, or equivalent work experience in a similar role required
- 3-5 Years supervisory experience in a manufacturing operation
- Thorough understanding and commitment to process improvement and the priorities of safety, quality and productive performance
- Computer proficiency needed (Word, Excel, Outlook, Performance Management System). Organized with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with teambuilding and continuous improvement practices
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer focus
- Familiarity with Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma concepts.
Physical Demands: Light -light industrial. Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting required. Work Environment:
85% exposure to the production environment (heat, operating machinery and noise). Office duties require sitting behind a desk, performing tasks on a computer. Position involves limited travel. No significant physical exertion required.
