Responsibilities & Expectations:

The Stacker is responsible for assembling and preparing transformer coils by placing core steel, attaching components, and ensuring the integrity and correct operation of the coils. This role requires precision, technical skill, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality output in the manufacturing process of transformers.

  • Place core steel around wound coils to form the core of the transformer
  • For 3-phase units, place core steel around each coil individually, then assemble the three coils together with a frame securing all three
  • Install switches and tap changers onto the coil as specified
  • Use a welder to attach aluminum lugs securely to the coil
  • Utilize a torch to braze on copper lugs for connection to the inside of the tank
  • Assemble the core steel around pole coils as required
  • Add a Completely Self-Protected (CSP) system to the coil if requested by the customer
  • Conduct Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) testing to verify that the voltage is correct, and the coil is wound properly
  • Ensure that all components are securely attached, and that the assembly meets all quality standards

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in electrical or mechanical fields preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in transformer manufacturing or a related field
  • Proficiency in welding and brazing techniques
  • Strong understanding of transformer assembly and core steel placement
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as TTR testers preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
