Description

KEMET, a YAGEO Group company, is seeking a New Product Development Engineer in the Simpsonville, SC location. The successful candidate should be highly motivated to assist with product and process development functions within the Simpsonville Innovation Center. This individual may provide process engineering and development support for newly developed products including creation and improvements to existing and new processes. This will also include supporting the transfer of these new processes and products into a production environment and future product development.

Job Description



  • Work in a lab/pilot process and participate in development level projects
  • Work jointly with a team of engineers on new/current product development activities
  • Establish and maintain metrics & indicators used to demonstrate process control & yield
  • Employ Six Sigma quality tools to enable root cause analysis for nonconforming product
  • Work in cross function team atmosphere to ensure the delivery of high quality components on schedule
  • Commissioning & qualification of new equipment and technologies as required
  • Implement completed projects into both pilot scale and production scale operations
  • Perform scale trials for both pilot and production activities along with maintaining accurate records and documentation.


Qualifications:



  • Team first attitude, flexible, demonstrate a desire to provide solutions
  • Must have strong analytical and computer skills; experience in statistics (SPC and DOE) preferred
  • Practical knowledge of manufacturing operations
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across disciplines and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to multi-task in a high paced environment


Education and Experience: B.S. (Engineering; Chemical; Materials; Physical; preferred); 1 - 5 years of manufacturing or R&D experience
