Department OverviewThe IPVideo department designs, engineers, and develops IoT based products for the safety and security industry. The team has developed the HALO and SentryERS products and continues to develop many more to add to the product portfolio. The department includes Cloud Development and Device Development teams. The Cloud Development team is responsible for all the web and mobile application development to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions for our customers. Job Description

IPVideo is looking for a skilled and innovative Principal Software Engineer with expertise in cloud based web and mobile application development, specializing in IoT applications. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions on both AWS and Google Cloud platforms.

Scope of Responsibilities / Expectations:

Cloud Architecture Design / Optimization

  • Architect and implement end-to-end cloud solutions for IoT web and mobile applications, ensuring seamless integration and scalability.
  • Design and optimize cloud infrastructure to support the unique requirements of IoT devices and web & mobile application workloads.

Web / Mobile Application Development:

  • Collaborate closely with and give guidance to development teams to integrate cloud services and APIs into web & mobile applications.
  • Implement cloud-native solutions for web and mobile applications, focusing on performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Work on and improving an existing codebase

IoT Applications Expertise:

  • Bring specialized knowledge in IoT applications, including connectivity, security, data processing, and real-time communication for IoT devices to interact with cloud system.
  • Design and implement solutions that enhance the functionality and efficiency of the cloud interfaces for IoT applications.

Cloud Environment Proficiency:

  • Leverage abundant experience with AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
  • Optimize applications for performance, cost, and reliability on cloud platforms.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement robust security measures for both IoT and web applications, addressing data encryption, access controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest security trends and apply best practices to protect cloud environments.

Desired Background/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on IoT applications
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud-based web and mobile application development. (C#/.NET development)
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs used with web browsers, mobile applications, and back-end servers
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • In-depth working knowledge of cloud platforms i.e Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Expertise in IoT protocols, standards, and communication technologies.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices for IoT and cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Extensive experience in .NET Core, Entity Framework
  • Experience with mobile development, Xamarin, .NET MAUI
  • Extensive Experience using Git version control
  • Extensive Experience with the following technologies: S3, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, RDS, Kinesis Firehose, AWS Lambda, MQTT, Kafka.
  • Extensive knowledge about CI / CD pipeline and automation tools.

The base salary range for this position in New York is $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience.
