Summary of Job Duties:The major focus of our lab is on cancer research and environmental exposure-mediated tissue injury and carcinogenesis under the direction of the PI. We will investigate the unique roles of nuclear receptors and long noncoding RNAs in the liver and pancreatic tissue injuries and carcinogenesis using cell culture and knockout mouse models combined with genome-wide epigenomics and bioinformatics approaches. The research technician will conduct molecular biology techniques and mouse experiments, interpret experimental results with statistical analysis, and performs administrative duties including record keeping, equipment & supply maintenance, and document editing.

The position will come with mentoring support from principal investigator for career development. The UAMS is high class research institution with a strong commitment for training the next generation of scientists in scientific innovation and discovery. The successful candidate will be in energetic, inclusive, and productive environment for his/her career development in government, academia, and the biotech industry. Preference to candidate with animal handling and cell culture/molecular biology related experience but not required. Qualifications:
  • High School/GED PLUS two (2) years of experience or education in a Bioscience field.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with University, State and Federal guidelines for laboratory safety.

  • Trains new laboratory personnel in the operation of laboratory and basic techniques.
  • Assists with experiments by processing, analyzing and presenting data, maintaining experimental records and researching information on related procedures.
  • Performs laboratory maintenance by placing, tracking and receiving orders, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring cleanliness and functionality of laboratory equipment.
  • Performs light maintenance on laboratory equipment, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
