The Jefferson College of Pharmacy (JCP) has full time faculty positions in the Doctor of Pharmacy program available for hire. The faculty member will engage in teaching, service and scholarship activities, and works collaboratively with colleagues across the University as well as with the Department Chair and Dean. The selected candidate will have responsibilities teaching classroom, clinical, and/or laboratory courses in the curriculum.

The college is open to considering individuals with expertise in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, ambulatory care, internal medicine, and oncology. Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Design and deliver didactic material in a framework that is conducive to the student learner.
  • Routinely assess and adjust courses to make improvements and to continuously be innovative in delivery of material.
  • Assist students through in-person or virtual office hours or scheduled appointments through University-approved mechanisms.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor to students.
  • Provides clinical service if appropriate based on degree.
  • Collaborates with the administrative and clinical teams in clinical trials, projects, and committee work as specified by the practice site
  • Provides experiential education to pharmacy students and pharmacy residents (if applicable) at the practice site
  • Attend and participate in monthly College and Department meetings, University ceremonies, and other major events, and serves as a member of University, College and/or Department committees, as assigned.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge in discipline and areas of expertise.
  • Build and maintain relationships with professional organizations involved with the healthcare sector.
  • Participates in University continuing education programs
  • Conducts original research and related forms of scholarship in areas of expertise
  • Publishes study results, reports and reviews in peer reviewed journals and presents results
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education/Experience:

  • Candidates from any pharmacy practice, pharmacy administration, or pharmaceutical science discipline will be considered.
  • Qualified applicants will hold a Doctor of Pharmacy, Ph.D. or other terminal degree.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Pennsylvania, if applicable by degree type.
  • Candidates should have a record of academic teaching, scholarship, and service which will qualify for the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
