Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Nurse Instructor.

In this role, the successful candidate The Instructor is a Registered Professional Nurse with advanced education and experience who provides for the orientation of new staff members; teaches required courses; provides in-service training; and provides educational programs identified through performance management and assessment of individual and staff needs.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Creates spreadsheets, reports and templates for Site Leadership.
    • Includes age specific considerations in educational content, utilizing resources as necessary.
    • Participates in the planning and analysis of educational programs based on evidence- based standards and guidelines to meet the needs of new nursing staff members.
    • Provides teaching instructions to new staff members while assessing and evaluating staff competency during orientation.
    • Confers with Director of Nursing Education regarding the competency of new hires, and submits post orientation evaluations in a timely manner.
    • Meets regularly during orientation with Orientees, Preceptor and Nurse Manager to review progress and set objectives.
    • Completes and maintains attendance sheets, program evaluations, and quarterly reports and staff evaluations in accurate, complete and timely manner.
    • Participates in on-going competency assessment of nursing staff and identifies educational needs in collaboration with nursing leadership on assigned units
    • Plans and teaches both formal and informal education to promote safety and quality based on The Joint Commission, state requirements and performance management issues.
    • Reviews/revises Instructors and Nursing Education orientation manuals including class content outlines
    • Serves as a consultant/resource to nursing staff in interpreting policy/procedure standards and evidence-based practices of nursing care.
    • Performs other duties as aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
    • Serves as site's time keeper and maintains accurate records of all employees work hours, vacation hours, sick hours, etc.
    • Initiates and facilitates Engineering work requests and reports site related operational issues to Site Director and/or Engineering Department.
    • Orders all required administrative and medical related supplies for the site. Initiates Purchasing Orders and coordinates with Purchasing Department for supplies.
    • Takes meeting minutes for monthly staff meetings, Labor Management meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree required. Four to five years of recent full-time Nursing experience required. The Specialty Instructors must have two to three years recent experience in the respective specialty (i.e. Critical Care, Maternal Child, Perioperative). Demonstrated patient care competency.
Previous involvement in orientation process and preceptorship/internship programs. Demonstrates an understanding of the teaching-learning process. Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development. Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in NYS..

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Four to five years of recent full time Nursing experience required with teaching experience preferred.
Recent Critical Care experience
Demonstrated patient care competency.
Previous involvement in orientation process preceptorship/internship programs.
Demonstrates an understanding of the teaching-learning process.
Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development.
Teaching Experience preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $120,136.64 - $156,136.64 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
