About the College The J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts comprises the School of Art, the School of Music, and the School of Theatre & Dance, accredited by NASAD, NASM, NAST, and NASD, respectively. TTU is the only public university in the state accredited in all four arts areas and boasts many acclaimed alumni. About the Department/School/Area The School of Music is NASM accredited and offers the B.A. in Music, the B.M. in Music with concentrations in Music Education, Composition, Performance, and Theory, the M.M. in Music Education, the M.M. in Music with concentrations in Composition, Conducting, Music Theory, Musicology, Piano Pedagogy, and Performance, the D.M.A. with tracks in Composition, Conducting, Performance, and Piano Pedagogy, the Ph.D. in Music Education, the Ph.D. in Fine Arts with concentrations in Arts Administration, Music Education, Musicology, and Music Theory, the Undergraduate Minor in Music, Undergraduate Certificates in Community Arts Entrepreneurship, Jazz Studies, and World Music, and Graduate Certificates in Early Music Performance Practice, Woodwind Specialty, Piano Pedagogy, and Collaborative Piano. A faculty of 61 full-time professors serves approximately 383 undergraduate students and 225 students involved in graduate study. The School of Music has many prominent alumni. Technical and administrative support includes a total of 20 staff positions. The University Library contains a wide array of music resources, including musical scores, recordings, videos, instructional media, and research spaces such as the Crossroads multi-media recording studio. Major/Essential Functions Course topics may include applied instrument, vocal, or conducting studies at the undergraduate or graduate level (pending qualifications), graduate or undergraduate academic courses in the areas of music, history, music theory, or music education, or undergraduate courses in the area of commercial music including songwriting, recording, music business, or music industry. Organization Texas Tech University Faculty Qualifications The qualified candidate is required to have a Master of Music, Doctor of Music, or Ph.D. degree. This position is for an individual with effective teaching ability as evidenced by a minimum of one year of experience as an instructor at the university level. Preferred Qualifications
