Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, coding, testing, and debugging a new software or enhancements to existing software. They will work closely with senior staff, or other developers and may coordinate smaller or less complex projects independently. They will design and implement basic technical solutions ensuring that business needs and requirements are met. And performs basic system integration tasks. They will provide estimation for assigned tasks..

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

  • Participates in the development of new goals and strategies based on interactions with primary user.
  • Develops plans for software deployment on heterogeneous systems.
  • Collaborates with user to develop work flow and best practices.
  • Partners with user in designing features for technology.

Administration

  • Responds to customer inquiries via phone, online, in-person, etc.
  • Creates and maintains code documentation.
  • Grants system access to new user.
  • Evaluates feature/upgrade/change requests and recommends action.
  • Participates in interview process for new hires.
  • Identifies database and software performance issues, and makes adjustments.

Development

  • Researches and develops new algorithms and statistical techniques designed for analyzing data based on customer needs.
  • Develops and maintains software infrastructure, via patches, bundles, releases and maintenance packs.
  • Codes software applications adhering to designs supporting internal business requirements or external user.
  • Completes tier 3 troubleshooting.
  • Designs databases and data structures.
  • Prioritizes tasks within project.
  • Meets with business analyst/stakeholder to determine requirements.
  • Opens tickets with vendors.

Supervises

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as computer science, information technology, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years relevant experience required.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Strong programming experience in a modern programming language such as PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, Javascript, .Net, C#, etc
  • Excellent experience in web application development and writing SQL to manipulate and extract data from a relational database
  • Proficient with version control systems such as Git and knowledge of RESTful services & APIs
  • Experience to write efficient, secure, reusable code and well-documented code.
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal) and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing code.
  • Must have demonstrated an ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to prioritize and to manage multi-tasks and deliver on deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in code reviews and stay updated with emerging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Experience in higher education environment is highly desired
  • Experience working directly with functional analysts and business partners
  • Experience designing and implementing web services
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and experience with a software implementation methodology is desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Familiarity with Laravel PHP framework and front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Working knowledge of AWS components and technology.
  • Working knowledge of GitHub Actions and Terraform.
  • Experience with unit testing and automated testing is highly desired.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $80,297-$95,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
