Position Description

The Payroll Tax Compliance Analyst will focus solely on payroll taxes for 9 legal entities in 30+ states. This position reports to the Payroll Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities

Coordinate and distribute payroll tax related documents with Ceridian to ensure compliance in multi-state payroll reporting and tax payments




  • Review payroll tax fallout report for accuracy, complete POAs, and register for payroll tax accounts as needed
  • Research delinquent payroll tax filings and resolve with Ceridian and the agencies as needed
  • Identify government reporting regulations impacting payroll and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and wage and hour laws
  • Obtain online accounts for all active jurisdictions and ensure state agencies' websites are current with company changes
  • Reconcile payroll tax accounts quarterly
  • Analyze, validate, and correct variances on quarterly tax filings
  • Review weekly payroll reports to ensure cash flow is accurate
  • Review tax set up for new hires and employee changes
  • Complete payroll tax audits (e.g., virtual/hybrid workers, year-end zero reporting, etc.)
  • Assist with W2 and W2-C reporting
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to the payroll tax processes
  • Assist with employee tax issues
  • Update SUI rate changes as needed



Required Skills

Technical Skills




  • The successful candidate will have 3-5 years' experience in multi-state payroll tax role
  • Familiarity with an HRIS system or similar large database is required
  • Strong capability with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Outlook is required
  • Experience with Ceridian Tax Services is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
