Job Description

The University of Missouri (MU) seeks applications and nominations for outstanding faculty candidates with a focus in Social Sciences. This recruitment is part of MizzouForward, the most important strategic investment in research excellence and student success in the history of the university. This initiative will leverage existing institutional strengths and address national health, scientific, and scholarly priority areas through innovation and collaboration. Successful candidates will have outstanding, competitive, externally funded research programs in any area of the Social Sciences. Positions are available in all units across campus and joint appointments between multiple departments are possible.

As a comprehensive residential campus, MU takes pride in a rich interdisciplinary network of researchers. Examples of existing multi-disciplinary resources, centers and institutes are the Missouri Center for Addiction Research and Engagement, the Missouri Prevention Science Institute, the Family & Relationship Research Network, Center for Family Policy and Research, as well as the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment.

Minimum Qualification

  • An earned terminal degree in a related discipline

Candidates will be evaluated on the following factors

  • Track record of external research funding, particularly from federal agencies
  • Research portfolio and accomplishments (e.g., publication record, number of citations)
  • National awards and honors, membership with national academies
  • Interdisciplinary orientation of their work

Applications will be accepted until October 20, 2024. Candidates across all academic ranks will be considered. Specific academic home(s) of candidates will be determined throughout the hiring process.
