Sonographer - Part-time, Benefits Eligible

University of Vermont Medical Center
$37.01 - $57.24 / hr
paid time off, relocation assistance
United States, Vermont, Burlington
Aug 30, 2024
We are the heart and science of medicine. We are UVM Medical Center.

We are looking for an exceptional Sonographer to join a team of patient-centered professionals who have a culture of caring for each other while providing an excellent patient experience. Join us as a Sonographer with the Ultrasound Team and enjoy the benefits and career growth that this world-class academic medical center has to offer - right in the heart of gorgeous Burlington, VT.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Staff Sonographer performs a variety of routine and complex imaging procedures using high frequency sound waves.

  • Since ultrasound can be degraded or blocked by various tissues and materials including lung, bowel gas and bone, obtaining a sonogram is a tailored examination requiring technical skill to adjust the machine, experience to find appropriate "windows" that can transmit an undistorted ultrasound beam, and diagnostic knowledge to obtain extra images customized to the diagnosis of concern and to abnormalities seen while obtaining the basic image set.

  • This need to heavily customize the examination to each patient and to recognize and diagnose pathology separates the sonographer from other imaging technologists in radiology.

The Staff Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other required modalities within individual department(s). Examinations are performed independently, under physician supervision, and with peer collaboration as is appropriate.

EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Graduate of a certified CAAHEP school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Technology or a two year allied health equivalent.

  • Must be ARDMS registered with an ABD or OB/GYN credential.

EXPERIENCE:

One - five years paid scanning experience.

HOURS:

Week 1: Sat, Sun 11a-11p

Week 2: Wed 11a-11p and Fri 7a-7p

Part-time regular employees are eligible for full benefits; for more details, visit the link in the benefits section below.
