Fleet/Safety Compliance Specialist

Minneapolis, MN

The Fleet/Safety Compliance Specialist will be responsible for Viking Electric's transportation operations including, 3rd party logistics, DOT compliance, vehicle leasing, associated fleet expense, onboarding telematics, performance tracking and reporting including monthly payables administration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own and administer company's Department of Transportation (DOT) program, including all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, Driver Hours of Service, Random Drug/Alcohol screening, and Rule-Set requirements. Ensure compliance of company's Driver Qualification File program, including maintaining all aspects of DOT files and FMCSA Clearinghouse regulations.
  • Work with Regional Operations Directors to obtain truck lease quotations, final lease documents, and establish strong relationships with local dealers. Research, analyze, and approve vehicle specifications, repair, replacement, and rental invoices for all company owned and leased vehicles. Collaborate on cost savings initiatives to reduce overall cost of leased and owned fleet.
  • Act as point of contact and subject matter expert for the auto insurance claims process. Work in collaboration with the Sonepar Risk Management Team.
  • Assist in development and implementation of safety training programs for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other federal, state, or local requirements in support of the company's safety program.
  • Oversight of companywide telematics hardware installation and Viking Electric policy compliance.
  • Tracking and creation of key transportation metrics including fuel usage, miles operated, cost per mile, repair/maintenance, and vehicle assets by location.

Position Requirements:

  • Two years transportation/fleet administration required.
  • Working knowledge of FMSCA/DOT.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and Minnesota AWAIR and/or willingness to learn.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Availability to travel up to 25% of the time.
