Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
This position will provide assistance in technical and laboratory support for Dr. Ainslie in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Division of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics. The major area focus of the Ainslie Laboratory is modulation of immune responses to prevent and treat cancer, infectious and autoimmune diseases. The primary responsibilities of this position primarily involve assisting with under strict protocols and supervision: (1) research support to Ainslie lab members in the conduct of (a) experiments with in vitro and in vivo models, (b) biochemical assays such as ELISA and synthesize and characterize polymer and nanomaterial platforms; and, (2) tasks involving laboratory operational and administrative support to Dr. Ainslie, including ordering supplies, helping with the equipment, management of data files and adhering to NIH's data management and sharing guidelines, and coordinating experiments
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
-Experience working in lab environment and performing chemical syntheses.
-Experience working in a lab setting
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
-Strong sense of teamwork
-Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel
-Ability to calculate concentration and dilution of analyte
-Basic organic chemistry knowledge
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
-Advanced Knowledge in a science or engineering field
-Experience with HPLC or similar analytical techniques
-Experience with in vitro cell assays and cell culture
-Experience with in vivo models
-Experience with data management and analysis
