Neuropsychologist

Gundersen Health System
United States, Wisconsin, La Crosse
Oct 25, 2024

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emplify Health by Gundersen is pleased to announce an opening for a neuropsychologist within its Neurosciences Center. The neuropsychologist in this role will see adults across the lifespan with presenting issues including TBI, dementia/neurodegenerative conditions, stroke, Parkinson's Disease, and multiple sclerosis. Neuropsychology works within an integrated care model handling consults from primary care, occupational medicine, regional rural medical clinics, as well as Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Adult Neurology, Memory Disorders Clinic, and Movement Disorders Clinic. Within this model of care, Neuropsychology is heavily utilized to assist in diagnosis, treatment planning, return to work/school concerns and guidance to patients and their families on methods for recovery and adjustment. Opportunities exist for the neuropsychologist to be involved in pre-surgical evaluations for deep brain stimulators in patients with movement disorders, along with the opportunity to expand one's practice into other service areas, such as Oncology. The neuropsychologist will provide consultation to providers involved in our acute Hospital Consultation-Liaison service and Rehabilitation Neuropsychology Service, with the latter being integrated into our 20-bed general neurorehabilitation unit. The neuropsychologist will have the opportunity to serve as a faculty member for our organization's postdoctoral residency in adult integrated health and rehabilitation psychology. This is a clinical position with primary emphasis and priority on delivering quality and efficient patient care, though some opportunities exist for research pursuits.

Competitive applicants will possess a PhD/PsyD from an APA-accredited doctoral program and will have internship (APA-accredited) and post-doctoral training in neuropsychology or rehabilitation psychology (with significant clinical training in neuropsychology). Applicants should possess well-developed consultation skills, be effective communicators, and be able to work seamlessly and provide efficient care with multiple interdisciplinary teams within a busy regional medical center environment. Licensure/eligibility for licensure in Wisconsin is required. The position affords a competitive salary commensurate with experience and generous benefits that include CME time and monetary allowance. Early-career psychologists are also encouraged to apply. Applicants who are board-certified or board-eligible in Neuropsychology are preferred.

The Neuropsychology Service has been a part of Gundersen for 50 years and has forged great working relationships with our physician colleagues in Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, Trauma Surgery, and in our Neurovascular Service. Our section includes a pain psychologist, two rehabilitation neuropsychologists, an adult neuropsychologist, and a pediatric neuropsychologist. We also have three psychometricians and a department secretary to support our practice. Opportunities exist to expand one's practice based upon interest and institutional needs.

Must have completed an accredited program and be eligible to obtain a license to practice in our multi-state region with no restrictions or limitations. Advanced practice clinicians work under the direct supervision of a physician. Clinician staff may need to provide outreach service as part of their role in the system. Teaching students, residents, fellows or clinical staff is cornerstone to our Medical Education philosophy and an expectation of all clinicians.
