Assistant Director, Workforce Planning

Responsible for supporting the evolution of our enterprise workforce planning, including the development and implementation of scalable tools and practices that enable our Business, Finance and HR partners to develop a blueprint reflective of the Talent strategies necessary to ensure the organization has the right mix of Talent to meet the organization's future goals. This role will contribute to advancing our workforce planning methods & tools and ensure key stakeholders involved understand & know how to contribute to effective workforce planning. Another primary focus will be on drawing & interpreting data from our reports/ dashboards to extract meaningful insights that may influence the organization's future workforce needs.

This role will partner closely with our HR leaders, Talent partners and People Insights/ Analytics team members to collect, analyze, and interpret workforce data to inform focus areas/ guide the development of Business' workforce plans that align with the company's strategic direction. This role will also help monitor & track performance to plans and identify where adjustments may be required. The Assistant Director will report to the Sr. Director Workforce Planning & Analytics and sit on the People Insights & Enablement team.

We will count on you to:

  • Support the design, development, and evolution of workforce planning methods

  • Deliver workforce planning findings and recommendations to support business understanding of their gaps

  • Monitor progress made towards appropriate talent strategies to address priority focus areas

  • Analyze workforce needs against internal and external labor market trends

  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex ideas, data, and analysis in a visually accessible way to communicate key conclusions & complex issues

  • Use workforce data to measure overall workforce health and the impact of strategic HR initiatives.

  • Support integration & use of Skills in our methodology

  • Conduct training with other HR stakeholders and program teams on workforce tools and methodologies

  • Work with people and talent partners to translate strategic drivers into future talent needs

  • Act as a trusted advisor to identify and advise on workforce plan & execution performance activity

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, 5-10 years experience in workforce planning, HR people analytics, Talent market analysis

  • Experience in workforce planning methodologies, talent supply, demand, cost, skills, and labor market analytics

  • Experience working with Workday, Power BI, or other HRIS/analytics platforms and data sets

  • Demonstrated success in overseeing the successful implementation of workforce plans

  • Strong analytical, visualization, and interpretation of workforce plans

  • Demonstrated ability to apply internal and external labor supply and demand data for effective talent acquisition and strategic HR planning decisions

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$90,930.00

Pay Range - End:

$168,870.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Please note that the salary range listed in the posting is the standard pay structure. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
