Position Summary

Responsible for payroll and payroll accounting work for U.S. staff and international contract staff. This position will also be a key member of the Finance team. Responsibilities include providing backup and assistance to other Finance team members as required. Performs the full range of payroll and accounting duties as noted below. This position will report to the Payroll Manager.

Position Responsibilities

Finance Support

    Support overall payroll processing cycle. Able to process the payroll independently if required. Serves primarily as a backup to the payroll manager (PRM).
  • Oversee payroll operations for international teams, ensuring compliance with global standards.
  • Support international contract staff (PEO) payroll. Enter payroll data, submit payments and enter Intl PR transactions in GL and bank portal, as needed. Assists PRM with local, state and federal tax compliance via ADP. Ensure that all state registrations and filings are current in ADP. Assists in maintaining current procedures for payroll, retirement plan contributions, payroll taxes, payroll reporting.
  • Prepare reconciliations of all payroll-related accounts, including reconciling variances in the Job Cost Variance GL.
  • Download and upload ADP General Ledger Interface (GLI) files into the financial system. Enter payroll and pertinent benefit general ledger entries into financial system for US and international employees.
  • Support the annual 5500 filings and other payroll compliance reporting as needed.
  • Assists PRM in submitting payments for 403b and 401k retirement plan contributions and FSA contributions. Review employee and employer contributions to ensure accuracy before submission.
  • Supports preparation of audit reports for external audit, retirement plan audit and workman's comp audit, and other audits as required.
  • Provides support to staff on payroll questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Prepare or support preparation of 990 compensation schedules.
  • Support data migration and user acceptance testing of any new financial or payroll related systems.
  • Ad hoc tasks or projects assigned by Payroll Manager or Deputy CFO/Controller.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent years of experience.
  • 7 (or more) years of relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of payroll and benefit accounting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of state and federal employment laws pertinent to key areas of responsibility.
  • Proficiency in ADP (Workforce Now and Comprehensive Services) or comparable payroll software platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Netsuite a plus.
  • Spanish proficiency also a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $56K to $75K
  • The above salary range serves as a general guideline. Accion considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, training, skills, location, current market conditions as well as internal pay alignment.
  • Accion provides a total compensation package, including base salary, discretionary merit-based bonus, and a variety of benefits including health insurance (90% employer funded), life and disability insurance, retirement plans (up to 7.5% employer match), paid holidays and paid time-off for vacation plus personal days as well as sick days.
