Summary of Position: Follow Automotive and Diesel program faculty guidance to order, receive, transport, price, stock, record and dispense all repair parts and supplies. Maintain financial records and fees. At times the Parts Specialist may also demonstrate operational skills to students when staffing in labs is needed. This position works to promote social justice within the division and the larger academic institution.

Essential Functions
-
1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required. 2. Perform office function's which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments. 3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department. 4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success. 5. Inventory Management/Procurement - Parts and Supplies -Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure adequate supply and material inventories
- Maintain a 'just in time' inventory of parts, assemblies and supplies
- Build a professional relationship with customers based on honesty, integrity, and industry leading product knowledge.
- Build and maintain a professional and long-lasting relationship with vendors and manufacturers that we order our parts through.
- Assist in budget management and reporting
- Create then manage automated and visual inventory control and replenishment systems
- Coordinate pick- up and delivery of parts and tools. Organize and facilitate auction of equipment
6. Process Orders and Invoices - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Process transactions related to the sale, receipt, and inspection of parts and supplies to students and staff
- Reconcile orders/parts, receipts, cash/checks and submit to the business office
- Prepare customer project repair orders/invoices
7. Instructional Lab Assistant - Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Assist with setup of labs as appropriate
- Assist with training vehicle maintenance as appropriate
- Assist with program recruitment events
- Provide support services to students
- Maintain record of material safety data sheets (MSDS)
- Collaborate with Physical Plant for annual inspections and ongoing repairs

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree OR
- Education combined with appropriate occupational experience in related field totaling 2 yrs. OR
- Occupational experience in related field totaling 2 yrs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years preferred in related field
Required Certification/Licenses:
- National Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Parts Specialist or must be willing to become ASE certified. (Specific for Automotive) within one year of hire
- Must hold valid driver's license

This position reports to: Associate Dean - Integrated Technology Starting annual salary range based on education and experience: $21.95 - $27.61 This position would include competitive salary, along with a wide variety of benefits available to full-time Western Technical College Employees.
