Job Summary Paradise Valley Community College is seeking a Library Specialist Supervisor who will be responsible for supervising and overseeing the daily operations of the library's integrated services, including circulation, interlibrary loans, reserves, acquisitions, periodicals, and library technology services. This position ensures the smooth functioning of library services, provides leadership to library staff, and maintains a high standard of customer service and resource management. Essential Functions 40% Works with the Library Division Chair to develop and administer department budgets; monitors and authorizes expenditures. Negotiates licensing agreements, new subscriptions, and renewals for library database collection. This includes establishing contracts and maintaining contact with outside vendors, creating requisitions, and assuring payments are made. Responsible for debt resolution. 40% Administers and coordinates the Library circulation services operations and ensures the delivery of high-quality library services to all patrons. Recruits, hires, supervises, coaches, and trains public service classified staff and student employees. Performs evaluations for public classified staff. Set library hours with the division chair and create a library and circulation desk schedule based on the academic calendar. Actively monitors the library floor and interacts with patrons to ensure that the library environment is conducive to study/learning; actively monitors the library facility to ensure that the facilities are clean, safe and usable and reports issues to the Facilities Department as needed. 10% Provides input and assists in developing, recommending, and implementing operating policies, practices, and work standards. Serves on college and district committees as appropriate. Oversees and monitors quality control and assurance activities, including Procard reconciliation and approvals. Compiles/reviews data and prepares routine and ad hoc reports ensures adherence to workplace safety policies, including patron privacy per the American Library Association professional code of ethics, and performs other duties as assigned. 10% Completes additional special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in library science or related field, two years of related library support experience such as oversight of daily operations of circulation, interlibrary loans and reserves, acquisitions, periodicals and library technology services and two years of lead work or senior level work experience. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications 1. 2+ years of customer service experience in a library environment. 2. Experience coaching, supervising, training, scheduling and evaluating library staff performance. 3. Experience working with an integrated library system for the purpose of material acquisitions, processing and billing and/or circulation services. 4. Demonstrated experience with various technology tools (e.g.) MS Office, Google Suite, graphic design, social media, etc. and the ability to learn and adapt to continually emerging technologies. 5. Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within library services and the broader community. Experience in implementing programs or initiatives that support these values is highly desirable.
