The Corewell Health Outpatient Clinic is a teaching clinic with resident physicians who practice alongside supervising physicians to improve healthcare through education and research. This partnership allows our physicians to provide quality care to all our patients. The practice manager will partner with an ambulatory nursing supervisor and both roles will be supported by two office coordinators. This position is integral to the day-to-day operations of the practice and work closely with physician leadership, clinical & clerical teams. Our patients come from all backgrounds, and each have their own unique and often complex care needs. We serve the underserved and are proud to provide this service to our community.

This practice manager III will lead a large team at our Royal Oak campus in the medical office building.

Our ideal candidate will have high level, specific experience working directly with and supporting providers as well as leading a practice team of RNs, MAs, and office assistants.

Scope of Work

Supervise and train office support staff to ensure optimal patient process flow and serve as a liaison between physicians and clinical staff in daily operations. Responsible for charge processing, A/R follow up, cash processing, patient flow, maintenance of scheduling system and patient medical records. Develop and implement policies, process improvement, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Manage all business and clinic operations at the assigned site.
  • Oversee the office staff in obtaining authorizations for all visit services and professional charge entry, department work queues, physician education, maximizing reimbursement and for all databases. Maintain department specific functions relating to the Charge Master. Direct and coordinate billing to meet all formats required by insurance carriers.
  • Participate in the candidate selection process, manage employee performance, ensure adequate training of new and existing staff to maintain/enhance skills and other management functions for staff in the clinic as needed.
  • Review/evaluate monthly statistical reports and make recommendations for revenue cycle initiatives and to include corporate initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and process improvement activities. Participate as a Joint Commission Steering Committee Representative as requested.
  • Maintain, review, and adhere to Corewell Health East policies and procedures.
  • Receive and resolve patient concerns with physicians and/or other staff within or outside the department as needed.
  • Attend monthly, quarterly, and annual divisional meetings and coordinate regular office staff meetings.
  • Serve as operational back up, when applicable with clinical skill validation, within the practice to assist as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Three (3) years of direct staff supervisory experience, preferably in a customer-service or healthcare field Required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant healthcare experience Preferred.
  • Experience utilizing an electronic health record system Preferred.
