Is an internship passionate about changing the world's energy future intriguing? If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for!

In this internship you could support nuclear material processing flowsheet development for alternative extractant chemistries, alternate head-end decladding processes, or off-gas capture and separations research. This includes laboratory-scale solvent extraction testing, flowsheet modeling & design, and implementation in counter-current solvent extraction equipment such as mixer-settlers, centrifugal contactors, and pulse columns, and creating and testing sorbents. This work is in relation to the Nonproliferation Stewardship Program (NSP), facilitated by the United States' National Nuclear Security Administration, Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation and the Material Recovery and Waste Form Development Campaign, Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy. Reporting to the Aqueous Separations & Radiochemistry group. This team works a 9x80 schedule, and works onsite at our Idaho Falls campus.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Undergraduate Sophomore/Junior/Senior or Recent Undergraduate seeking Graduate School, enrolled full time at an accredited college/university, studying Chemical Engineering, or related
  • Experience or coursework in Nuclear Materials Management, Recycling and Disposal, Nuclear Nonproliferation
  • A minimum overall 3.0 GPA
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT and OPT)

Compensation and Benefits:




  • Undergraduate Internships ($25.65/hour - $30.70/hour)



  • Masters Internships and PhD Internships Pre-Candidacy ($31.75/hour - $34.06/hour)



  • PhD Internships Post-Candidacy ($33.75/hour - $36.06/hour)



  • Eligible interns are provided paid holiday time off, and many of our internships offer travel reimbursements.



  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on degree field and level of education.
