Job Summary: The Nursery Associate assists customers with all questions related to our Nursery products, while working in a fast-paced environment, with a team and/or alone, therefore the ideal candidate must be reliable, flexible, organized, detail oriented and a positive team player. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist customers with floral, nursery, garden, plant and landscape purchases
- Load customer vehicles with plants and bulk material including gravel, bases, and stones
- Operate a skid steer, forklift, and loader (optional: operator duties for selected candidates)
- Operate company trucks with attached utility trailer and mini dump (driving duties for selected candidates)
- Sweep, rake, shovel, care for plants (prune, deadhead, hand-water, controls weeds)
- Load and unload delivery trucks, trailers, and semis
- Maintain nursery areas neat and safe
- Assist with delivers as needed
- Other duties as needed or requested
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience working outdoors
- Must be able to read and write legibly
- Must have basic mathematical skills, a strong eye for detail and good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work the required shift hours/days, including Monday to Friday and rotating Saturdays
- Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work and a valid State issued driver's license
Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual skills in Spanish and English is a plus
- Wholesale experience in a garden center, nursery, or farming is a plus
- Experience or education in the horticulture, agriculture or related field is a plus
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time or until the end of the assigned shift
- Must be able to safely and properly lift and carry plants, pots, and other product
- May be asked to lift 50 lbs. or more on a consistent and regular basis throughout the assigned shift with or without assistance
- Must be able to bend/stoop, squat, reach above shoulder height, crouch, balance, and push/pull
- Must be able to use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating
- Specific vision abilities required include color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
Work Environment:
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work with daily exposure to dust and dirt
