JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The College of Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is a recognized world leader in impactful teaching and learning; research; and service to the University, the profession and society. We are seeking innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative individuals to join the academic advising community in providing academic advising to in-major students from their 2nd year through graduation. The College of Engineering is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. These academic advisers work as a team geographically embedded within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, working closely with department faculty to serve students in the Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Computational Data Sciences majors with navigating their unique learning experiences and helping them determine appropriate academic plans. The academic advisers are expected to support and participate in various programs such as New Student Orientation and group advising presentations. These positions require interaction with students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members, and comfort with various modes of communication. Education: This position will be filled at the Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional level, depending on the final applicant's experience and education.Intermediate requires a minimum of a Master's degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education are required for higher level positions.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with different student populations in a high-enrollment academic unit are necessities for success in this position. The successful candidates will have strong backgrounds in working with high school or college-aged students, and a proven track record of commitment to serving diverse student populations.
