Description

The Engineering Manager is responsible for implementing sustaining and new product development initiatives and manages the capabilities of the team to ensure that business objectives can be met as it pertains to technology and development.

Key Areas of Responsibility:



  • Direct development, management, and deployment of physics, electrical and mechanical engineering resources.
  • Partner with Project and Product Managers to address business needs, priorities and maximize development output.
  • Ensure product design is appropriate to address product safety & standards compliance.
  • Participate in regulating body audits and any required corrective actions.
  • Ensure design concepts are consistent with overall product development group strategies.
  • Monitor and provide input for evaluation and prioritization of change requests.
  • Communicate with senior management team, and within project teams.
  • Mentor and motivate engineers to implement best practices.
  • Prepare schedules and status reports.
  • Make hiring and organizational design decisions.
  • Establish high bar of performance for individual contributors.
  • Provide proven ability to evaluate and improve product development best practices.
  • Manage projects to ensure they come in on time, and budget.
  • Support Director of Operations on manufacturing and sustaining effort.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical or biomedical engineering field in the development of embedded electromechanical systems
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering management
  • Experience working in quality system regulated engineering environment is required; medical device environment is preferred.
  • Proven ability to grasp complex physics and material science related concepts.
  • Ability to guide design choices to optimize for manufacturing using 3D printing.
  • Management and leadership background with experience leading full lifecycle developments, including executing performance appraisals, managing staffing allocation, process leadership, and career development.
  • Strong knowledge of professional engineering best practices, including engineering standards, Design for Manufacturing (DfM), design reviews, supply chain management, integration and testing.
  • Experience executing large and small projects on time.
