The Sr. Network Engineer will design, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and wireless systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role requires an excellent understanding of networking concepts, hands-on experience with multiple Cisco technologies, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The position requires senior-level understanding and experience in Cisco-based network, wireless and voice/video technologies, the ability to analyze network logs, scrutinize network traffic, and troubleshoot escalated incidents and service requests.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years of IT experience
  • 3-5 years of Cisco network experience
  • 3+ years experience with Cisco ISR/ASR routers, switches, and Catalyst Center
  • 3+ years experience with Cisco Wireless Lan Controllers and Cisco ISE
  • 3+years experience with network configuration and troubleshooting
  • 2+ years experience with Unified Communications solutions
  • 1+ years experience with Cisco Meraki solutions
  • Excellent understanding of TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, and routing (VLAN, NAT, EtherChannel, STP, OSPF, EIGRP)
  • Excellent understanding of VPN technologies (DMVPN, SD-WAN)
  • Excellent understanding of wireless fundamentals and QoS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot networkproblems independently
  • Ability to properly handle confidential and sensitive information

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION PREFERENCES

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems or comparable experience
  • Cisco professional certification(s) required (eg. CCNP)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain network equipment and services
  • Monitor various network management platforms for configuration flaws and make changes to optimize network performance
  • Evaluate network implications of current processes, service requests, and proposed changes
  • Evaluate new network technologies and solutions through proof-of-concept testing and analysis
  • Manage and coordinate response efforts to network, wireless, voice/video performance and availability issues
  • Ensure seamless integration of Cisco network and Microsoft UC solutions with existing IT infrastructure
  • Respond to network impact events and participate in remediations
  • Perform audits and ensure configurations remain in compliance with requirements
  • Create and maintain network documentation and diagrams
  • Ensure regulatory controls are followed and evidence of violation is maintained for review
  • Maintain current knowledge of network best practices
  • Lead and mentoring junior network security engineers and other IT staff

ADDITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Knowledge of network maintenance automation languages
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Unified Communications technologies, such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams
  • Strong knowledge of network and UC protocols (eg. EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, SIP, RTR, H.323)
  • Strong knowledge of wireless configurations (eg. QoS, DSCP, WLAN, Fast Roaming, MTU, Authentication, Certificates)
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and escalate as necessary
  • Ability to work with and coordinate between multiple groups
  • Ability to function in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize appropriately
  • Ability to pay attention to details
