LOCATION: Various locations (This position requires traveling to different sites.)
SUMMARY: The Construction Site Safety Officer will develop and provide oversight of the site safety program and inform the Project Management staff of all safety concerns, violations, and safety risk management/compliance requirements. The Construction Site Safety Officer will manage all phases of the program from inception through completion. This positions requires travel to various work sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Identifies, develops, and implements applicable site safety plan, procedures, and processes.
- Coordinates with agency oversight point of contact on all safety and security issues for the safe operation of the site.
- Develops, reviews, and upgrades safety/job hazard analyses and reports for all site work activities.
- Performs safety inspections and monitors all safety aspects for ongoing site construction and development tasks.
- Performs analysis and develops safety requirements documents for inclusion in site statements of work and purchase requests. Inventories, inspects, and manages all site personal protective equipment (PPE) and all other safety related materials.
- Conducts visitor safety orientation briefings.
- Monitors status logs for automated fire and security systems.
- Manages on call support for the site outside of normal business hours.
- Prepares for and conducts monthly site safety committee meetings.
- Conducts annual safety inspections of sites and equipment.
- Prepares for, conducts, and tracks all applicable safety in service training for all site personnel.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of experience managing the safety efforts of construction projects as a Site Safety Officer
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College or 7 years of experience with high school diploma and specialized training
- At least 8 hours of documented safety training each year for the last 5 years
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, able to support multiple projects, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, works well with a team, and interacts with multiple levels of management.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
- Competent with the standard Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CLEARANCE:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Active DoD Secret security clearance desired
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Travel is a requirement.
- Must be willing to work outdoors and indoors.
- Ability to work in extreme work environments, such as heat, cold, heights, confined spaces, excessive noise, etc.
