Duties and Responsibilities:
Create, develop, and edit a wide range of internal communication materials, including newsletters, emails, intranet content, and announcements, aimed at enhancing employee engagement and conveying key organizational messages within the Navy.
Collaborate with various departments to gather information, identify communication needs, and ensure that all internal communications accurately reflect organizational goals, values, and updates.
Tailor communication strategies and content to diverse internal audiences, ensuring clarity, inclusivity, and alignment with the Navy's culture and strategic objectives.
Implement innovative communication approaches and channels to improve internal messaging effectiveness, employee reach, and feedback mechanisms.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of internal communications strategies on employee engagement and organizational culture, adjusting approaches based on feedback and metrics.
Manage content calendars for internal communications, ensuring timely and coordinated dissemination of information across the organization.
Serve as an internal communications advisor, offering guidance on best practices, message framing, and the integration of internal campaigns with broader organizational objectives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English or Communication
5 years of experience writing as depicted in portfolio/writing samples.
The ability to design and implement innovative communications strategies for NAVSEA initiatives and programs.
The ability to write and edit news copy and long-form writing (Feature articles, stories, et cetera) according to the Navy and Associated Press Style Book.
Strong demonstration of communication skills, both written and oral, including demonstrated ability to produce concise and properly edited products that clearly and logically convey complex information and ideas.
Ability to synthesize complex ideas and initiatives into easily understood communications for a variety of audiences.
Strong demonstration of interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of audiences and convey information to a variety of audiences with varying levels of understanding of NAVSEA's programs and priorities.
Thorough analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to think strategically, to identify needs and requirements, and to develop recommendations and solutions.
Ability to manage small and large-scale projects that contribute to a larger strategic communications plan.
Ability to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail; ability to work effectively with NAVSEA's senior leaders in a high profile and demanding office.
Familiarity with NAVSEA, Congress, the Navy and Department of Defense
